SISTER GAIL BORGMEYER, SAC
After getting letters from me for the past year, I thought it was time to let you know that there is a face behind those letters. I want to welcome you to the OUTPUT series. This coming year, you are going to meet eleven of my sisters and hear their call stories. I hope you will enjoy reading them as much as I had interviewing the sisters.
I entered the Pallottines in 1978 at the ripe old age of 20. 1 became attracted to the sisters because of their warmth, sense of humor, and being so down-to-earth. They witnessed a tremendous love for their God and a strong desire to be modern apostles.
Now at the ripe old age of 40 my attraction to my sisters continues to grow. This year I met other Pallottine Sisters from all over the world. Again, I relived my first attraction because of their warmth, humor, and zest for life. They, too, strive to increase faith and love using any and all means. Meeting my sisters from Rwanda, I see how their faith has been tested. They have lost family and friends because of brutal warfare. These sisters continue to witness to the power of love overcoming all obstacles.
Being a sister at the end of the 90's is certainly a challenge. Life is full or uncertainties and constant changes. As outsiders flip coins asking whether religious life will survive, my answer is a resounding yes. Why? Because the world still needs us.
