Copies have been sent to the Major Superiors and the Houses of the introductory Period.
FOR YOUR REFLECTIONIn these days we have heard of further difficulties faced by our confreres in the Holy Family Region (Rwanda). Theirs is a situation that could change radically from one day to the next. This puts us in mind of all those who take great risks for the sake of the Gospel. Many of our Members carry out their service in "frontier apostolates". Often these are priests and brothers who leave their homelands to give witness to the faith in another country. Other times these are Confreres who face similar challenges and dangers right in their own lands: denouncing injustices, working in the poor sections of cities, going out into the less inhabited regions, etc.
These Members follow the long tradition of many others who faced all manner of challenges and dangers to fulfil their mission. It is good that we often recall the faithful service of those who precede us in the apostolate. "In the future too, the Church must continue to be missionary: indeed missionary outreach is part of her very nature" (Tertio Millennio Adveniente, n. 57). The question for each one of us today is to ask ourselves frequently - "Is my service truly missionary? How do I give witness to the Gospel in my life as a member of our Society?".
We are just about to begin the season of Advent. We celebrate the great Mission of the Son of God, the Apostle of the Eternal Father, who was sent to bear all our afflictions and to bring us new life. It is an opportune time to review our lives, to redouble our efforts in prayer and action, to prepare the way of the Lord. Let us be united with one another in the bond of faith and charity. Let us support those whose mission poses particular dangers and difficulties in any way we can, especially and foremost by our union in prayer. Let us each resolve to preach the Word, recalling what St. Paul has written: "Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the Gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith" (Eph 6:14-16).

FOR YOUR REFLECTION . . .At Rossmoyne (Australia) a meeting was held to reflect upon the recent Document on our Brothers. Bro. Lindsay Rust offered his impression from this meeting:
"A key issue for us as Pallottine Brothers was our consecration. It stresses our common commitment together with the priests of the Society and sets us firmly within Vincent Pallotti's apostolic trust - the Union of Catholic Apostolate.
Among other issues explored, was Vincent's vision of the Brother. This vision is found scattered among Vincent's writings about the call of all to be apostles; it is within that context that we are situated. Vincent always appreciated the company and collaborative work of the Brothers in community. The pastoral needs were great and the Brothers at that time worked as cooks, barbers, sacristans, and offered hospitality to the many people who came to Vincent seeking spiritual and material help. So, Vincent did not write theology of brothers; he encouraged and inspired them to live lives of simple yet profound holiness at the service of people. That service takes on different forms today.
The heroism of our Brothers, especially in our missions, is often worth more than a thousand sermons. We, as Pallottine Brothers commit ourselves to Vincent's vision, together with Pallottine priests, sisters, and lay people in the union of all our efforts for the Catholic or universal Apostolate.
